Prabowo Emphasizes Indonesia’s Need for Strong Defense in Uncertain World

President Joko Widodo highlighted the importance of maintaining a robust defense system for Indonesia in the midst of a globally uncertain environment. Speaking at the Operational Troop Review and Military Honors Ceremony in Batujajar, Prabowo emphasized the significance of the nation’s history and the struggles it has faced under colonial rule. He stressed that a strong army is essential for maintaining freedom and sovereignty, especially in the face of complex and unpredictable global challenges.

Prabowo warned of external forces seeking to disrupt Indonesia’s progress and emphasized the need to protect the nation’s territory, sovereignty, and resources. He expressed concern over the uncertainty in the world today, pointing to ongoing conflicts and violence in various regions. Despite Indonesia’s stance of not aligning with any geopolitical bloc, Prabowo emphasized the necessity of a strong defense to safeguard the country’s interests.

During the ceremony, Prabowo promoted several military commanders and units, underscoring the commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s defense capabilities. The event also marked the inauguration of new TNI units, including Army, Navy, Air Force, and Special Forces commands, as well as territorial development and rapid deployment battalions. In total, the troop review involved over 27,000 personnel and various tactical vehicles and defense assets.

Prabowo’s address and actions underscore the government’s focus on enhancing Indonesia’s national defense capabilities in the face of global uncertainties and external threats. The commitment to a strong defense system reflects the nation’s determination to protect its sovereignty, territory, and resources.
