Strengthening Indonesia-France Ties: Macron-Prabowo Meeting

French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two nations, emphasizing the significance of their cooperation. Macron highlighted the depth of the friendship between Indonesia and France, stating that it goes beyond symbolism to represent a true and robust relationship. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit.

Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of collaboration in various sectors such as the economy, technology, security, and culture. The two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for 75 years, with notable progress achieved in the last decade.

Acknowledging Indonesia’s role in regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Macron also highlighted advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda. Cultural collaboration was a key focus of Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex to symbolize the growing friendship between Indonesia and France.
