President Prabowo Meets King Philippe at Laeken Palace: A Historic Encounter

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia had a meeting with King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels on 13 July 2025. The meeting began with a warm welcome from King Philippe as President Prabowo arrived at the palace. The two leaders then proceeded inside for an official photo session in the historic building’s main hall.

During a cordial atmosphere, President Prabowo and King Philippe engaged in a private one-on-one meeting. The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Belgium, Andri Hadi.

This meeting with King Philippe concluded President Prabowo’s series of high-level engagements during his state visit to Belgium. Following the meeting, King Philippe personally bid farewell to President Prabowo as he departed for Brussels Airport. The President then headed to Paris, France, to participate in the Bastille Day celebrations as a guest of honor.

In addition to meeting with King Philippe, President Prabowo also had important diplomatic discussions with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa in Brussels. These meetings highlighted Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union, aiming to enhance economic ties between the two entities.
