President Indonesia Prabowo Subianto fondly remembers the time when Peruvian President Dina Boluarte awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru—the highest honor from the Peruvian government—on November 14, 2024. This memory was shared during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta during Boluarte’s official visit. Prabowo expressed gratitude for the honor, considering it a tribute to the entire Indonesian nation and highlighting the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries since 1975.

In return, Prabowo bestowed upon Boluarte Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in recognition of her significant contributions to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation. This reciprocal gesture signifies the importance of the partnership between Indonesia and Peru, with Prabowo emphasizing the hope for continued growth in their relationship.

During the official visit, Indonesia and Peru signed agreements for cooperation in various areas such as narcotics eradication, combating illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. These agreements further solidify the commitment to enhancing collaboration between the two nations for mutual benefits and progress.
