Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga), emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities with them to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. She highlighted the need for parents to continuously learn and adapt to new online applications as children tend to learn quickly in today’s digital age. Isyana also pointed out that children often seek instant gratification through social media and online games, which can lead to addiction.
During a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita, Isyana stressed the significance of sports and outdoor activities in providing dopamine in a healthy way. She mentioned how sunlight and physical movements are essential for the human body, rather than sedentary behaviors like scrolling on electronic devices.
Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, shared about the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, which aims to create safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, learn, play, and unleash their creativity. Through RBI, Veronica hopes to encourage children to engage in traditional and creative games, sports, and activities that can help them steer clear of gadget addiction.
Overall, the focus is on promoting physical activities and creative play as a means to prevent children from becoming addicted to games and gadgets, nurturing their overall well-being and development.
