They Truly Care: Single Mother in Bogor Finds Hope at People’s School

Rama, a single mother from Bogor Regency, West Java, found a ray of hope in the government’s Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School). For her, this tuition-free boarding school is more than just an educational institution. It is a safe haven where her son, Ridwan, is treated with dignity, kindness, and genuine care.
Rama, who has been raising her two children alone after losing her first husband and seeing Ridwan’s father remarry, struggled to make ends meet. When she was unemployed and thought she couldn’t afford to send Ridwan to school after completing elementary education, an unexpected opportunity arose.
Her son was selected to join Sekolah Rakyat, a fully funded residential education program. Initially hesitant, Rama was convinced by a social worker to enroll Ridwan in the school. The transformation she witnessed in her son within this nurturing environment moved her deeply.
Previously, Ridwan had experienced bullying and reluctance to attend school due to his struggles with reading. Now, enrolled in Sekolah Rakyat, he has found a supportive community that has helped him regain his confidence and academic motivation. This positive change has reignited Rama’s hopes and dreams for her son’s future.
With heartfelt gratitude, Rama expressed her thanks to President Prabowo Subianto and all those involved in the Sekolah Rakyat program for extending a lifeline to families like hers. Through this initiative, the state has made a tangible impact on the lives of vulnerable citizens, offering them a chance at a brighter tomorrow.
