Anik Mutmainah (38), a resident of Desa Selok Awar-awar, Kecamatan Pasirian, Lumajang Regency, East Java (Jatim), passed away while watching the sound horeg parade. Her family expressed their acceptance and resignation to this tragic event as fate. Mujiarto, Anik’s husband, shared that her departure has deeply wounded the family, yet they have come to terms with the situation and accepted it as destiny. “We have no choice but to accept it because it is fate,” said Mujiarto on Monday (4/8).
The incident began when Anik was watching the sound horeg parade during the village ceremony and the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia along with her elder sister. Mujiarto revealed that Anik enjoyed the sound horeg and was excited to be a part of the parade. “It started at 9:00 PM after the Isya prayer. My wife went to watch and record the video, she was truly happy,” he stated. Anik was in good health when she left home, with no history of heart complications. “My wife was healthy,” he emphasized.
While watching the sound horeg parade, Anik suddenly felt dizzy, sat down, and fainted. Unconscious, she was immediately evacuated to the Pasirian Regional Public Hospital by her sister and local residents. Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, Anik was pronounced dead. Anik Mutmainah has since been laid to rest at the public cemetery in Desa Selok Awar-awar, Lumajang.
