MBG’s Free Nutritious Meals Boost Kids’ Focus

A recent study has shown that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program has a positive impact on children’s concentration levels and short-term memory, leading to improved learning motivation. The research conducted in Aceh and other regions revealed that students who received MBG demonstrated increased concentration, enhancing their educational outcomes and motivation to learn. The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) also found similar results, showing improved focus and cognitive performance among students in areas like Bogor and Papua, especially those who did not eat breakfast.

Concentration is a crucial cognitive function linked to attention and the ability to process stimuli, especially during a child’s formative years. Various factors, including learning motivation, nutrition intake, psychological well-being, and physiological conditions, can influence concentration levels. Nutrients like protein, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids play a vital role in brain development and memory function.

The MBG Program aims to address children’s nutritional needs for physical growth, cognitive potential, and intelligence enhancement. However, challenges such as unhealthy consumption behavior and limited access to nutritious foods in some regions need to be addressed. It is crucial to support the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program to ensure lasting benefits for future generations and society as a whole. Ikeu Tanziha from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) emphasized the importance of nutrition in cognitive development and memory processing, urging collective efforts to promote healthy eating habits and access to nutritious foods.
