Ministers Meeting: Reemploying Sritex Workers

A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting, chaired by Prabowo, aimed to find solutions for the affected workers. Attendees included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo expressed the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgent need to address the issues faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working arrangement in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s efforts to facilitate the potential rehiring of former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively working to protect the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, which will pave the way for the reemployment of the affected workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
